We're on Grandchild Watch

My son and daughter-in-law are going to be having their first child and my first grandchild very soon. Their due date is this week so we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our grandson or grandaughter-they did not want to know ahead of time. I can hardly stand the wait!

This sweet little egg with the bunny on it is actually quite old-like me-not really-I'm a young 53! This was given to my Mom by my Dad filled with flowers when I was born. It always amazes me that she held onto it all these years and it never got broken in the process. I always put it out at Easter and I love it. I also happen to have a similar container that my Mom sent to me in the hospital in Colorado when I had my son almost 29 years ago. So I have it all ready to go to the florist, as soon as we get the baby news, to be filled with flowers and passed on to my daughter-in-law. I hope I am around years from now to see it passed along one more time to another generation.

  2. Congratulations on your new grandbaby! I love the bunny egg and think it is sweet you are passing it on to the new arrival.
I have four kids, myself. When I was expecting my youngest (he's 16 now), I had some complications so I had an amnio done. I was able to find out he was a boy. But I tell you, that was the one element missing from his birth--the ability to cry out: It's a boy! Or, It's a girl! I tell people not to find out, if they can stand waiting. It's just so much more fun to be surprised!

  3. What joyful expectations! I love the idea of passing on the little ceramic vase. I, too, have one given at my birth and another very similar that came when ThePrincess was born. I'll have to remember to pass it on to her *s*

  5. How very *SWEET* of you~ to pass this treasure to your first grandchild...Hopefully, this vase can be an Easter tradition~ filled with candies or flowers. Its just to pretty and special not to be used.

  6. Waiting eagerly to hear the news too, I can't wait to be a grandmother, but with girls only 3 and 5, it'll be a good while yet!

  7. Chris, being a grandma is the best! Our first grandbaby is almost 20 months old and my daughter-in-law and son are expecting their second July 3rd. The first was a girl, Emma, and the second is suppose to be a girl.
And by the way, 53 is not old....I'm 50, almost 51 and I feel young...today, anyway!
    Congratulations!

I pray that risen from the dead,
In glory I will stand,
A crown perhaps upon my head,
And a needle in my hand.
