Waiting for Autumn

We are still waiting for autumn here in NH. Despite the spotting of red leaves last week with Baby C., it was 92 degrees here today! So I am going to continue the tour of red (and maybe a little green) inside my home that I started last week.

Here is a collection of mostly red picnic baskets. The bottom one is my daughter's but so far she hasn't showed up to claim it for her own cute home. My favorite on is the little one on top. I love the child sized baskets.
These are my kitchen canisters made by the Ransburg company in the 50's. They belonged to my sister at one time but she tired of them and I took them and have loved them ever since. I love the color and the handpainted flowers. My daughter has two sets of her own, black and yellow, that are just as pretty. She's a collector like her mother! And here is my other favorite color, apple green. The jar on the right is made by the same company that made the canisters. I picked both of these up for very little because they are missing their covers. They are perfect next to the stove. Now would someone please find Autumn and send it back to NH. It's my favorite season and I am missing it.

  1. Your picnic baskets are delightful like that. I only wish I had the space for a tower of them. I picked up my first vintage basket a few weeks ago but sadly have no place to display it. The bottom one in your photos is my favorite.

  2. What a wonderful blog! Those cupcakes are great! Were they chocolate and then she just put icing around the edges? How fun!

  5. Cute baskets! I know what you mean about the weather. We are having a small heat wave out here in CA. And my husband just put away the air conditioner! Have a great day!

  7. Well, we didn't steal it down here on Long Island. It's been hot here, too! What's up with putting the A/C on when we're only days away from October.
Hey, Mom Nature...Fall is short enough as it is without sticking a little extra summer inside!

  8. Such beautiful things! LOVE the picnic baskets. It got warm here again and I was so disappointed. I am SO ready for the glorious Fall weather. Today we had cooler temps and it rained, lightly and it just felt like Fall for the first time.
Yours will be upon you soon too...

    Thinking about you!

    Hugs,
    Sue

I pray that risen from the dead,
In glory I will stand,
A crown perhaps upon my head,
And a needle in my hand.
