Blessed

I've always felt blessed. I have a great life with a husband of almost 32 years. I have a grown son and grown daughter who were great kids. They both now are married to wonderful people so I am a lucky woman. We've never had any financial problems, although there were times when we didn't have a quarter between us. We have just always lived a simple, frugal life. But March the past couple of years has been a tough month for us. Last March my daughter was sick and by the time it was over she had been diagnosed with MS. She had been married less than a year so "in sickness and health" was being tested. She seems to be fine now but it was a tough time for all. I thought I had almost made it through this March without any medical drama-until Saturday morning.

My husband in the middle of the night got up and shortly after walking out of our bedroom, passed out and went down hard. He came to quickly but it was quite apparent to me that something wasn't right when he couldn't answer some of the questions I was asking him. So off to the emergency room and 3 CAT scans and an MRI later they determined he had a severe concussion and had a spot in his brain that was bleeding. We live in an area of world class hospitals though so he was transferred to the hospital associated with Dartmouth College to make sure his brain bleeding wasn't getting any worse, which it didn't, and to try and determine why he passed out. After three days in the hospital they could find no reason in his brain, arteries, heart or any other body part as to why this happened so he is home now. This is a man who has rarely ever taken a sick day and is very fit so I guess we'll never know why this happened except to make us realize that we are very blessed. So hug your loved ones today.

  1. Chris, I'm sorry to hear about what you went through with your husband. How absolutely frightening!

I just posted about a little boy (3 years) who had open-heart surgery yesterday (he is doing really well).

I will give my husband and son a few extra squeezes today. I hope your husband is on the mend and will not have to endure anymore testing.

I pray that risen from the dead,
In glory I will stand,
A crown perhaps upon my head,
And a needle in my hand.
