It's Finally Summer

The weatherman on Thursday told us that it had rained 23 of the past 32 days. No surprise to me. On those 9 days that it did not rain, the sun did not shine except for one or two days. It's been hard on the spirit. But finally, Friday was a perfect New England summer day. This is what summer is usually like here-low 80's, no humidity, hardly a cloud. So hubby and I picked up our grandson and daughter in law, who is 9 months pregnant by the way, and went to Newfound Lake in Bristol NH. This is my favorite spot in all of NH I think. Crystal clear water and beautiful sorroundings.
Grandson Carter loves water and splashing so that was his main activity of the day. I mainly delighted in watching him and enjoying the memories it brought back of my son at that age. Carter looks just like him and we lived not far from this lake when he was small. We would come here pretty much every nice day in the summer so seeing his son who is so much like him was a bit nostalgic for me.

I'm sure there will be more trips here the remainder of the summer, perhaps with his baby brother who should be here any day now. I'm just glad my daughter in law did not go into labor while we were at the beach!

  5. I love that lake. While I was in college my folks rented a place every summer there - I loved that you could walk out forever and not go over your knees! After spending time in Boston in school, heading up there for a weekend was heavenly.

  6. Newfound Lake is like heaven on earth. It is so beautiful.
If you get a chance go to Country Heart Quilters in Plymouth a 15 minute drive from the lake. Loretta is so nice.

  7. We went kayaking there and loved it. It is still cooler here with the ocean breezes, but I will be coming up there to enjoy the mountains and lakes.

I pray that risen from the dead,
In glory I will stand,
A crown perhaps upon my head,
And a needle in my hand.
