Fabric Finds
First of all, another day, another snow storm here in NH. Looks like we'll only get a little over a foot out of this one. But I got a snow day from work so I have been in the sewing room and I got my blue star quilt all put together. Now I just need to find enough fabric to piece a back.
But recently I got some great deals on fabric. There is a shop in Concord NH, The Golden Gese Quilt Shop (sorry, no web site), that I like. They have a great selection of excellent quality fabric and always have the latest lines available. But what I like, as you walk in the front door on the right is the bargain section which is where I always look first. Fabric here is always $1 or $2 a yard, and in January they have 20% off fabric all month long so I usually make my way there in January.
Once in a while they seem to clean out the storage and put out some oldies but goodies fabric and this is one of them. This is a Thimbleberries Halloween group that I should have bought but didn't when it was first out. I've seen quilts made out of this on several blogs and have always loved it but it's from 2006 so I never expected to see it.
They also had some of the companion fabrics so I grabbed them. $2 a yard. I see a Halloween quilt being made sometime this year. BTW, they only had a few yards of this focus print and I bought it all.
I also spied some Fig Tree Folklorique fabric which is an older line. The jelly roll was only $5, the charm pack $2 and the yardage was $1 a yard. I have a quilt in mind for this group. Something from Schnibbles Times Two I think. So while I busted out a lot of fabric from the stash for the blue star quilt, I have been enhancing the stash also which makes me a happy sewer.
Wow, what a great deal on the Fig Tree fabric! I'm envious.
ReplyDeleteThat Halloween fabric is a classic!! Do they have a web site??
ReplyDeleteDo you know if they have any more jelly rolls or charm packs. I forgot all about their sale in January. I would go tomorrow if I knew they had jelly rolls.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - a charm pack for $2 and a jelly roll for $5? I am so jealous!!! I wanna move to america....now!
ReplyDeleteHappy stitching - I will be living vicariously thru yours
Such great deals, I live in Southern Maine and the trek to Concord would almost be worth it, LOL. Can't wait to see what you make with your goodies.
ReplyDeleteGood Gravy that's a fabulous sale! I NEVER find deals like that! ALMOST worth driving from NM, but I'm thinking I would be right in the middle of that winter storm the entire way.
ReplyDeleteLove that halloween fabric!!!
ReplyDeleteLove that Moda fabric, can't wait to see what you create out of it. Lots of good finds on a winter's day. The best my local shop ever sells at is 30% off, which just doesn't do it for me. I think I'd best visit you in January from here on out.
ReplyDeleteWow, you seem to be living near a great store. I never see that kind of price here in Japan. If it gets out of date it becomes "vintage" and the price goes up!
ReplyDeleteOh what great fabric finds - I LOVE the halloween fabric you found, I don't remember it but I would buy it if I found it for sure!! Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteNice work re-stashing :-) Hope you had a good time working that quilt room today while it snowed. Sounds cozy.
ReplyDeleteWell, I hope you realise how lucky a quilter you are to have such a cool shop to shop at. Nothing like that in my neck of the woods!
ReplyDelete(((sigh)))
No need to reply, sorry if I sound cranky. Just jelous envy here. LOL
I'm jealous, fabric here in Spain is so expensive, no matter which date. I bought in American shops online. I'll love to enter that shop....
ReplyDeleteLooks like some wonderful quilts will be made this year!
ReplyDeleteLooking at all that lovely fabric stirs a longing to return to my quilting days!
ReplyDeleteI love all of this fabric, I can think of a million things to do with it.
ReplyDeleteI love Nancy's shop. You really got good deals on this trip!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness what great buys you found. I especially love the Fig Tree Fabric!
ReplyDeleteOh how you tempt me. I am so looking for that folklorique jelly roll and there is no web shop.
ReplyDeleteI guess they only had one.??
I started making spools and have been searching for more.
