On to Christmas!

Thanksgiving's done so it's on to the Christmas decorating. While many of my friends were out on Black Friday shopping, I was getting the Christmas decorations out. My daughter used to love to put the decorations up the day after Thanksgiving. This job was much easier when she was here helping but now she has her own home to work on.

Above is my "Return to Sender" quilt but with the Christmas colors I used, I have been calling it "Christmas Cards". I had my quilter do a generic quitling design instead of a Christams one so I could leave it out beyond Christmas.
Here are some little bits of oclor on a shelf in my kitchen.
I even have a tree up in the great room where the day before there were 27 people having a sit down dinner. There's nothing quite like taking out each ornament and remembering who gave it to you, which child made it, what trip you were on when you bought it, etc.
And here is the great room mantle. I have two other mantles to decorate and one of them is done but I haven't touched the other. I love Christmas decorations and can't wait each year to get them up, especially this year since there is so little time between holidays. I hope you enjoy getting your decorations out and reliving the memories they stir up.

  1. Welcome back from feeding the masses!!!

Quite enjoyable to see your decorations and tree. Thanks for sharing. Also, okay the quilt - LOVE IT! The close up on the quilting is lovely, too.

  2. Hi Chris -
Your decorations are so nice. Your tree is pretty. I have just begun to put some decorations up. My sweetheart stayed longer at his hunting trip than originally planned so I couldn't get the decorations down from the attic until he arrived home. I have a lot to do in the next few days and will slowly get it done. My mantle is decorated and I'm enjoying it.

  3. Your decorations are so traditional in their look and I just love that. Our trees are very similar and I used to crochet snowflakes just like the ones on your tree.

Your Christmas Card quilt is so very nice.

  12. For Lyda and anyone else wondering, the "Return to Sender" quilt pattern is from Miss Rosie's Quilt Company. Many online quilt shops carry it.

I pray that risen from the dead,
In glory I will stand,
A crown perhaps upon my head,
And a needle in my hand.
