There is Some Sewing Going on Too

You'd think from all the construction talk that it's destruction and construction all the time here but that is not entirely the case. There is some sewing going on this summer. I have summers off from work so I do a fair amount of sewing in the summer since there is such a bonus of time available to me. And with just a couple of weeks left until I return to work I am trying to get some things finished. So here are a few for you to view.

I organized my fabric at the beginning of the summer and decided I really needed to start using more of my stash which is so hard to do with such wonderful fabrics coming from such creative women like Anna Maria and Heather. So that is where this quilt came from, my stash, except the backing which I did not have enough of any one or a few fabrics to piece together. It does not show the borders in this picture but it has two. The pattern is "Full Bloom" from Miss Rosie's Quilt Company.
Then I also made this which is actually going to be a Christmas tree skirt. I love that the fabrics don't scream "Christmas". The colors go nice with the colors I have in my house. The fabric collection is called "Yuletide Blessings".
I also made this quilt from a kit and I'm getting ready to put it together and quilt it with some fun varigated thread. And talk about fun-I love the fireworks fabric for the backing that I got from my local quilt shop.

So as I stare the end of summer in the face I hope everyone is enjoying theirs.

  1. Some great work there! I love that fireworks fabric, it is perfect for the quilt you are using it for. Love all your work, very nice.
Now I need to get off the computer & start some sewing!!

  2. Those are just beautiful. I am trying to use up some stash too. I suddenly have a lot of fabric and not enough time to use it!

  3. Really love the Christmas tree skirt! They're all really beautiful. It's nice to have a big chunk of time like having the summer off to work on projects.

  4. Lovely quilts underway, great therapy to get away from sheetrock dust! The fireworks will look stupendous on the back of that batik beauty! I love the not-screaming Christmas prints that are out now, too. I have some of the Roman Holiday collection, they're soft and lovely in a timeless sort of way.

  5. Love your quilts especially the Miss Rosie one. I love her patterns.

  6. Hey, now those look fun. Love the tree skirt -fabrics are that don't scream Ho Ho Ho are such fun to find. Gonna have to check out that Miss Rosie pattern - they all look great.

  7. All of them are lovely, but am particularly drawn to Full Bloom with the 9-patches.

  8. Full Bloom is just stunning! and Yuletide Blessings is perfect for a Christmas Tree Skirt! You do wonderful work! Now the kit you did, that is just great! did you like doing the curves? that firework fabric for the back is just fantastic also! you are inspiring! NH huh? I am too! Nashua here! Originally from Salem!

  9. Such wonderful projects, Chris!! The Christmas Tree skirt fabric is beautiful!

  10. What a fabulous version of the Full Bloom pattern! I like it better than the original! I've got a project in the works using the Yuletide Blessings fabric too, and need to get it back out and complete it in time to get it quilted for the holidays. Thanks for sharing your beautiful projects!

  11. Wow, looks like you have been busy. Beautiful work!

I pray that risen from the dead,
In glory I will stand,
A crown perhaps upon my head,
And a needle in my hand.
